We took ownership of Lodge Hill in 2018. Since then, we’ve been looking at how it can best contribute to Medway’s need for new homes while respecting the site’s unique environmental characteristics and heritage.
Homes England remains committed to the protection and, where appropriate, the enhancement of the unique characteristics of Lodge Hill including that of the Chattenden Woods and Lodge Hill Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
We are looking at ways of acknowledging and enhancing the site’s previous military heritage. This will be an important part of future discussions with local communities.
These discussions will form part of engagement activity that Homes England are seeking to progress later this year, including a public consultation.
